The Atelier
Materials and shapes come to life in the atelier where the entire creative process is in our hands: from design to pattern-making and manufacturing, everything is performed in-house. prioritising authenticity and quality production.
It is the antithesis of fast fashion. A small-scaled production centred on the quality of materials, where a great amount of time is dedicated to each piece, with care and passion.
We source the best materials, take care of every detail, look for the perfect fit. We investigate an harmonious balance between modern techniques and traditional expertise. Our aim is to create a timeless wardrobe.
The creative process
Being a designer, pattern-maker and tailor means benefitting from a holistic vision. This allows for a complete in-house production and a constant search for improvement.
Experimenting is at core of this. A very much a hands-on, material based process. It's a dialogue between the creator and the material.
Ideas often originates and develop through the process itself. You have to embrace uncertainness and welcome mistakes. Most of all you have to listen to needs of the material.
The process begin with a toile (made of plain canvas) which is further developed. Depending on the complexity, it could go on to several prototypes in the final fabrics. It relies on a deep knowledge of the fabric and even small details such threads are taken into account.
Evolution, not revolution
My aim is to investigate an harmonious balance between the tradition of quality and a view of the future. Traditions, heritages and legacy are the foundations but revisited to find new solutions.
The aim is to create garments that combine refined simplicity and architectonic construction. Pieces designed to be practical and functional without any superfluous decoration.
These requires a lots of experimentation and trial-error learning. A lots of work that is completely unknown (to the customer) and often remain hidden.
Experimenting with pattern-cutting. Combining drafting and draping techniques. Working with the grain of the fabric and gravity. New tailoring techniques.
